I seen that happen...

I have seen that happen in this situation:

Database A has replicas on Server1 and Server2.
Database B has replicas on Server1 and Server2

The replicas don't replicate frequently (in my case Server2 is my test server, and I replicate manually every few weeks).

On the workspace, I have Database A on Server1 but Database B on Server2.

I open Database A, open a document annd click on a doclink that points to a document in Database B. However, that document has not been replicated to Server2 yet.
Then I would get that message.

I suspect that the server names get fixed when you perform your deletion, so it might have been much easier for you to just change the server name on the chicklet.
